Biography
Courtney Crauthers joined Âé¶¹´«Ã½ City University in the summer of 2025, bringing with her 16 years of experience in public education. She spent 12 years teaching at Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School and four years at Yukon High School. Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Education in Language Arts from the University of Central Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
Before entering the classroom, Courtney began her professional journey as a journalist, writing for small-town newspapers such as The Guthrie Newsleader a²Ô»å The Edmond Sun. Her reporting earned her recognition as Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Best New Journalist of the Year at the 2009 Associated Press/Âé¶¹´«Ã½ News Executives awards ceremony.
While teaching 8th grade English at Belle Isle, Courtney identified a need for accessible dance instruction and founded the Belle Isle Dance Team, which she coached and sponsored for nine years.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Courtney discovered a passion for educational technology while navigating synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid learning formats. This interest deepened during her time as the AP English Language and Composition teacher at Yukon High School, where she focused on integrating technology into her instruction. That passion ultimately led her to her current role as an Instructional Designer at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ City University.
As a born and bred Âé¶¹´«Ã½n, Courtney enjoys the peaceful nature of her home state and currently lives in Yukon, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ with her husband, two corgis, and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, video gaming, and jewelry making.
